Funghi, mele e zucche..

Last night I had dinner at my parents house. They had just returned froma daytrip in Segni.
They had gorged on amazing food (chestnuts, meat, mushrooms etc etc) and kindly decided to bring some of the goodies back home.
Among other delicious things, their shopping comprised of porcini and ovolo mashrooms. The king and prince of mushrooms.
They were AMAZING. So smooth, pretty, large, the color of gold.
My dad cut the ovoli and served them raw, with just olive oil and shaved Parmigiano Reggiano.
My mom cut the porcini , added slices of potatoes, salt, pepper, olive oil and cooked everything in the oven for 20 minutes.
Both results were divine.

We finished out meal with chestnuts. I was in heaven.

I will have to try that porcini recipe. Yum.

I went to a cheese shop to find a cheese similar to the one we had with the truffles. They one had a fresh/soft cheese. Not the same. I bought brie instead.

Next time I'm in that area I should go back and ask where I can find that cheese.
